DL382 S tronic guide

DL382 is a family of seven-speed wet dual-clutch transmissions for longitudinal powertrains. It is used in certain Audi A4, A5, A6, A7 and Q5 versions. S tronic, quattro or the model name alone does not identify the gearbox. We check the installed unit, gearbox code, production date, hardware, software and repair history.

0CK/0DN are front-wheel-drive versions; 0CL uses a self-locking centre differential, while 0CJ/0DP use quattro ultra. 0HL is DL382plus. The 0DK plug-in hybrid has an electric motor and an engine disconnect clutch. The newer PPC/DL382M design with a 48 V generator is different from 0DK. A 0HK hardware-number prefix alone does not identify DL382plus. Parts compatibility must be verified separately.

Record when the symptom occurs, whether the gearbox is cold or warm, and whether a particular gear or direction is affected. Keep the complete diagnostic report. Clutch control, hydraulic pressure, speed signals and the rest of the drivetrain may require investigation; a symptom alone is not a diagnosis. Follow the car’s warnings and stop safely if drive is lost.

For P071800/20736 and P276800/20737, the vehicle version, gearbox production date and whether the fault is intermittent or active affect the diagnostic path. P17F900/22345 and P17F900 occurring after a repair are also different situations. The symptom identifier and vehicle details must be checked before selecting a repair procedure.

ATF cools the clutches and serves hydraulic control; MTF lubricates the mechanical gearbox. Some all-wheel-drive versions have a separate coupling oil circuit. We check the current service schedule, fluids, filters and filling procedure for your car. An older DL382 service interval cannot simply be applied to a later PPC/DL382M version. Basic settings do not repair a mechanical or electrical fault.

We need the car at our workshop for our own diagnostics. Earlier reports help us prepare, but the repair decision is based on our examination. We investigate the cause and assess whether a component can be repaired. A fault code alone does not determine which part needs replacing.
